Pakistan Bridge Federation

Pakistan Bridge Federation was formed in 1972 as Pakistan Bridge Association. Pakistan then took part in World Championships as a member of The Far Eastern Zone of World Bridge Federation (WBF) but unfortunately always conceded a walk-over to Taiwan whenever they had to meet, due to the government policy based on our friendly relations with mainland China. However in 1980, a separate Zone-4 named as The Bridge Federation of Asia & Middle East (BFAME) of WBF was formed. Pakistan thus represented this zone in the Bermuda Bowl World Bridge Championship at Port Chester, New York in 1981 and made solid impact on the world's bridge map by reaching the Finals and became the only country outside Europe & America to do so in its maiden appearance. Pakistan reached the Finals of World Championship again in 1986 in Miami to dispel the notion of any fluke.

In 1993 the Association became a Federation which now has FIVE affiliate member associations in Pakistan. The head office is located at National Stadium, Karachi.

Pakistan has won six BFAME Championships and two SAARC Championships. It has also hosted BFAME twice and SAARC once.
